Hi, Hello and Happy Thanksgiving!

Welcome to NewYorkSportsGuys.com!

I know this probably should’ve been written sooner but who said a fifth article has to be any different from the first? It’ll be on the shorter side, I promise.

What the heck is NYSG and does it include me buying stocks? Good question! To start, we’re two brothers (the sports guys) who really love sports and that’s probably why you’re really here. We’ve been planning a project like this for years and feel the time is finally right to start. This won’t be your average blog. There will be discussion. There will be critiques. You might not like exactly what we have to say and that’s the beauty of it. If you have suggestions, bring them up. If you have comments, post them. But understand this is as much for us as it is for you. For too long, I’ve found myself saying things that were right on the money and not having them for the world to see. We have big plans and are no longer content with plain old social media bantering. Let’s also make it clear that we will not be covering only New York sports – if the people want us to dissect the Lakers, we’ll dissect the Lakers.

The name itself actually comes from Bill Simmons, a columnist for Grantland and ESPN. Before he was a best selling author, Bill was updating his Boston Sports Guy website at the ribbing of others. So consider this a relocation of the original branch or maybe even their sister station. Up until now, the few articles published have dealt with concrete news a bit more than original ideas of any kind. Expect this to change however, as we hope to put a new dimension to the meaning of player and team success using well publicized stats and what we know about front office evaluation. Scouting reports, organizational rankings, where is the future of the league? Engaging in hypotheticals allows us to delve into these questions and more. We’d be lying if we said we didn’t want in specifically on the baseball industry. I mean who doesn’t? We’re young enough to keep fantasizing on it and old enough to be able to pave our way. Basketball and football, we still love you.

We don’t claim to know the answer to all life’s problems but rest assured that significant thought was put into each of the words before you. At the same time, this is not a political campaign. We have every intention of being here long term and making it into what it will become. Don’t be like the folks in Congress! Help us out and share our pieces whenever you can. Guest features are always welcome and the process of adding additional manpower is already underway. Look for a few cosmetic changes in the coming weeks, mainly the creation of a company logo and hopefully a header.

Everything has a beginning; this is ours.

Coming up: stories about Hanley Ramirez, Pablo Sandoval, Yasmany Tomas and Odell Beckham Jr.
